The Water and Ham Festival (Fiestas del Agua y el Jamón) takes place in Lanjarón from June 20th to June 24th.
A major highlight is the Water Race (Carrera del Agua), held every year during the Night of San Juan. It is a highly popular event that blends celebration, tradition, and water throughout the village streets, attracting thousands of participants and visitors annually.
The Water Race is not a competitive sporting event; rather, it is a collective celebration featuring a "water battle" through the streets of Lanjarón in the early hours of Midsummer's Eve (the night of June 23–24).
For approximately one hour (usually from midnight to 1:00 AM), participants follow a 1.5 km route through the town, soaking one another with buckets, hoses, water guns, and more. From balconies and windows, residents and onlookers join in the fun by splashing water onto the crowd below.
