Plaza de la Constitución
The Plaza de la Constitución is the town's main square. It began as a local market, while the plaza's pillar supplied the town with water for domestic use.
The Plaza that we know today as the Constitution was first named the Plaza de la República, and in later years it was renamed "de Jose Antonio" in honour of General Primo de Rivera.
In addition to being the centre of the town's greatest social activity, if we talk a little about the different uses that have been made of this square, we would highlight its role as a meeting point for neighbours, for rallies, demonstrations, political events, and of course, for celebrations known as the carnival and our beloved and increasingly popular "Fiestas de San Juan".
When talking about the origin of the fountain we cannot forget that it was built for ornamental purposes after the town was enlarged at the beginning of the last century.
Another relatively recent element is the Cannon donated by Admiral Alfonso Mosquera in 2000.
Today, the “Living Fountain” and the Plaza are among the most representative symbols of the municipality, especially after its remodeling in 2013.
